Be the Ice Sculptor
A character animation piece: an ice sculptor and their chainsaw, built from storyboards for School of Motion's Principles of Animation.
The project
The final project came with a set of storyboards from Ordinary Folk, a voiceover and one instruction: bring them to life however I saw fit.
It was the first time I animated a complete story with a character, so every shot meant deciding how it should move, feel and flow into the next.
The finished video follows an ice sculptor and their relationship with their tool of choice: a chainsaw. I shared it with my teaching assistant and made edits based on their feedback.
Storyboards
These are the storyboards from Ordinary Folk that I started with. I animated them row by row, building each section until I felt good about it before moving to the next.
