Location
Fifth Third Arena houses 13 different digital screens within the stadium, and I had the opportunity to create animations for every one of them. The center piece is the scoreboard that hangs in the center of the court, where the main messaging would be shown. Additionally, 8 different ribbon boards wrap around the stands and the court, allowing Fifth Third’s brand to be broadcasted across the entire space. The stadium was offering both a partial and full takeover – meaning that most of the time the videos would be shown all at once but could also be shown separately for select screens.
Process
To create signage that tells a cohesive story in 30 seconds, I had to plan extensively how each screen would interact with one another. I started with the center hung scoreboard and created a plan for how the video would work, then built out the other ribbon boards and screens to support and complement one another. There were some trial and error where sequences needed to be adjusted and/or removed to keep only the most effective aspects of the animation in the final product.
Final Stadium Signage
Since this is in a location where Fifth Third’s brand is very prominent, I used a combination of both the UC Bearcats and Fifth Third color palettes to create a dynamic video that celebrated along with the fans. Using quick transitions and constant movement, the full takeover of all 13 screens is intended to remind fans of the Fifth Third brand while also being engaging and fun.
