Process
Starting off, I laid the static storyboards out in After Effects and began planning what the timing would look like and what the overall look and feel would be to how different elements would be moving. I used a 3-dimmensional ball for the center piece of the project and rotated it different ways as it scaled up and down to finally land in place for the final lockup. The most challenging part was getting the background elements to rotate at the right speed as the scene transitions. I didn’t want it to be too overwhelming or disorienting to viewers, so I had to play around with the timing of how fast it moved and what other elements were moving at the same time to create a good rhythm.
Final
The final animation sequence came together very well, and I learned a lot about
animating 3-dimensional objects in After Effects in the process, as well as getting some
practice in on creating smooth and engaging transitions between scenes.
